WOMAN'S SUFFRAGE LEGACY OF COURAGE PARK
OPENING IN THE SPRING OF 2025!!
Explore a site steeped in history where nationally renowned suffragists like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton delivered powerful speeches that galvanized the local and national movement. Learn about Hebron's unique role as the birthplace of Nebraska's first permanent Woman Suffrage Association and the influential efforts of activists such as Lucy and Erasmus Correll.
The Woman’s Suffrage Legacy of Courage Park located on the south side of the Hebron Secrest Library is a display that honors Hebron’s role in the Woman’s Suffrage Movement through audio storytelling and images. Visitors will be transformed into the past as they listen to local high school students tell the stories of how Suffrage was kept alive by efforts of people like Erasmus Correll and his wife. A spectacular mural by local artist Jamie Luttrell is placed at the end of the park that highlights the faces of courage in women’s rights. The suffrage park is one stop on our audio historic walking trail that takes you on a beautiful stroll throughout the north side of downtown.
