Philosophy
The central tenet of Thayer Central Community Schools is based upon the conviction that quality education is the highest priority in our society today. It shall be the responsibility of the Thayer Central Community Schools to adequately prepare children and youth for full intellectual, cultural, social, and economic participation in the world.
The school shall provide the skills or the means to obtain the skills required to be a productive member of society; and it shall provide students with a solid scholastic foundation which will serve as a base for continued education, be it technical or non-technical, formal or informal.
The school shall provide an environment that will be conducive to the development of those attitudes and traits essential to be productive, intelligent, and responsible citizens of the world, our country, our state, community, and family; and it shall provide an atmosphere that stimulates personal growth toward an enriched, meaningful life.
The school shall provide a comprehensive educational experience to enable the students to develop skills in reflective thinking, democratic planning, rational problem solving, independent thinking, and the effective use of technology. It shall provide equal opportunities related to the various aptitudes without sacrificing quality or self-respect; and, finally, it shall create where possible a desire for truth, a love of learning, and a respect for the diversity of humankind.
